UPM Raflatac has introduced an updated selection of labeling options for industrial, outdoor, machinery and appliance labeling in Europe

The Durables product category has widely varying requirements for resistance to exposures including heat, chemicals, moisture, mechanical stress and outdoor conditions, such as UV light, UPM Raflatac said. The type of material being labeled also places demands particularly on the adhesive according to the surface energy and smoothness.

To meet these requirements, UPM Raflatac’s Durables range incorporates solid facestocks with and without topcoats, plus overlaminating films for extra print protection, mechanical resistance and an extended service life, while the latest non-solvent adhesive technology offers the same or better performance than traditional options with a ‘much-reduced’ environmental impact.

The extended UPM Raflatac product range offers a diverse set of specifications to meet the requirements of specific applications, such as advanced water-based and UV-cured adhesives offering environmentally responsible choices.

Further, the newly published Durables Selection Guide gives information about each product’s technical characteristics and makes it easy to locate suitable label materials for technically demanding applications.

The guide is available for download from the UPM Raflatac website, together with full technical details on its Durables product range.

The first entry in a new series of articles addresssing the unique requirements of the industrial labels sector will be published in Labels & Labeling, issue #6, 2014
