OPM buys new generation Nilpeters
Leading UK converter OPM Group has confirmed an order at Labelexpo Europe for a Nilpeter FA-6 and an FA-4* press – ‘A new generation of presses for a new generation at OPM,’ commented OPM managing director Chris Ellison.

‘The success of our business comes from not being afraid to experiment and working alongside guys like Nilpeter who are prepared to support us,’ said Ellison. OPM is preparing to move into a new plant as the next generation of the Ellison family – Charlotte and Arnie– start to take more responsibility for the company’s affairs.
‘First and foremost we are a family unit,’ said Sue Ellison, who brings a depth of expertise in planning and pre-press to OPM. ‘We were all involved in the decision for the new machine.’
Key factors in purchasing the FA-4* press were its ‘stability, repeatability, versatility, short web path and above all Nilpeter’s willingness to work on integrating the press with our management information system, both into press and out of press,’ said Chris Ellison.
OPM’s FA-4* press – shown in Europe for the first time at this Labelexpo – has eight color stations, screen unit and quick change die. ‘The press has job recall and auto-pressure setting and really brings flexo to the next stage – more in line with how younger printers use computers today,’ said Ellison.
Commented Peter Eriksen, COO Nilpeter, ‘Chris Ellison was closely involved in the development of the FA-4*, particularly certain features from the operator point of view.’
OPM has specialized in 7-color flexo process printing using Kodak’s Spotless system.
