UK converter Labelsco appoints general manager

Leicester, UK-based label converter Labelsco has appointed a new general manager to oversee production and efficiency at its Barwell plant.

Peter Griffiths joins Labelsco from printer Thanet Press, where he started his career as an apprentice and left 31 years later as a member of senior management. 

Griffiths will work alongside group director Donny Gillies to control the plant and production at the firm, while Gillies will head up the sales operation. 

Griffiths said: ‘I’m very excited about the move to Labelsco. It has traditionally been a very high quality label company and a fantastic business overall. The industry is having a turbulent time at present and so I look forward to working with the team in consolidating Labelsco’s recent achievements and driving further success across all areas of the business.’ 

Griffiths will primarily manage plant production at the Barwell site, with a direct line of managers from departments across the business. 

He added: ‘I have over 30 years worth of experience in the printing industry, but I know that every business is different. Over the coming weeks I will be learning from colleagues but I think in this market time is of the essence and no one can afford to stand still, and from what I’ve seen so far Labelsco certainly isn’t.’ 

Gillies said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Peter to the business and I look forward to working with him in further consolidating our position and reputation as an industry leader.’
