Label Summit Latin America, taking place on 15-16 May 2007 at the WTC Hotel, Sao Paulo, has received a record number of advance registrations. Over 500 visitors are expected to attend the summit which has around 20 seminar sessions on the conference program and features an accompanying table-top exhibition. The event is designed to give practical advice to label converters, providing them with in-depth insights into the latest developments in the Latin American and global label industry.

Leading experts from the label industry will congregate in Sao Paulo to share their viewpoints and experiences with the international delegation in less than two weeks. Interactive panel sessions will be a strong focus during the conference. On the first day, a panel discussion looking at ‘what makes a successful label converter?’ will take place. Panelists involved in this discussion include: Jeffrey Arippol, managing director, Novelprint; Herclio Celso Baumgarten, president, Baumgarten; and Luis Maria Garcia, president, Multilabel. All panelists are key players in this region’s label industry and are ideally placed to share their expertise.

Further panel sessions will analyze the best strategies for adopting smart labels and RFID technologies; testing equipments, techniques and quality; and selecting the best printing processes to maximize efficiency and performance. Case studies will also be an important component of the conference, with practical examples from the food and drinks industries.

Hewlett-Packard, the computer industry giant, will present a case study on the effectiveness of RFID in its global supply chain. Reinaldo Villar, RFID program manager at Hewlett-Packard will discuss the tangible benefits of implementing RFID as well as provide ideas for organizations wanting to roll out this technology in their global infrastructures.

Other hot topics over the two-day conference program include: regional label industry trends; anti-counterfeiting processes; brand security and authenticity; opportunities in the beverage and wine industry; leaner manufacturing; digital printing and supplier relationships, to name a few. For the first time, a panel of experts will conclude the conference with a question and answer session, giving delegates a final opportunity to raise queries about the topics they have heard during the event.

A tabletop exhibition will be running alongside the conference with more than fifty local and international suppliers showcasing their latest product news, including: Avery Dennison, Mark Andy, Nilpeter, Gallus, UPM Raflatac, Gidue, GEW, Green Bay Packaging, HP Indigo, AVT, Omet, Xsys Print Solutions, Industrial de Informatica SA de CV, Distribuidora Grafica Novaro, Rotoflex, Degussa and Comprint, to name a few.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘We’re looking forward to being in Sao Paulo in less than two weeks. Our summits represent the ideal forum for label industry professionals to hear from and meet the best experts in the business.’
