Simpson Label becomes NSD International

One of Scotland’s longest established print businesses is changing its name in April. Simpson Label Company was founded in Edinburgh in 1858 and has been part of Netherlands-based NSD since 1976. On April 1 the company will trade as NSD International with the Dalkeith facility becoming the European Group’s center of excellence for digital label printing as well as full color UV flexo combination printing including UV screen with in-line foiling and embossing.

Simpson Label Company was a pioneer in the development of digital label printing in the UK in the late Nineties. ‘However, with a pan-European spread of factories in UK, Czech Republic, Romania and The Netherlands, all with specializations, and sales teams throughout Europe, we at NSD have now created an extensive market for our technologies and print expertise, which must be served by a company with a truly international brand and persona,’ explained NSD International’s Group supply chain director David Hedley, who also emphasized the importance of the UK market to the group.

NSD International MD Sander Van Ochten said: ‘The Dalkeith site will be key to future growth and success of our business. Although our digital skills are primarily concentrated in the UK, it is essential that we are also able to maintain our unique position as both a digital and conventional label printer for our growing international client base.’

Sander Van Ochten says that UK clients will not be affected by the name change other than to find that they have access to a much more extensive range of print skills and capabilities from NSD International from on-pack labels right through to booklets and leaflets labeling, while in parallel, NSD’s Edinburgh operation will also be providing a special service for customers throughout the world.
