Herma launches tamper-proof material

The new self-adhesive checkerboard pattern targets e-commerce security applications.

Herma has introduced HermAvoid checkerboard (type 935), a tamper-proof self-adhesive material designed for rough transport cardboard packaging.

The silver-metallized PET material features a concealed tamper-proof pattern on the reverse side that reveals a characteristic checkerboard pattern when removed, making tampering immediately recognizable and preventing label reuse.

'It offers label printers the opportunity to participate in an extremely attractive, steadily growing market. And label users get an efficient and cost-effective method for protecting products, brands and property along supply chains,' explained Hendrik Kehl, product manager at Herma.

The material incorporates Herma's 63B adhesive, characterized by aggressive adhesive properties suited to critical substrates such as rough cardboard. The adhesive offers water resistance and performs on cool and damp surfaces.

The new material can be processed using conventional printing methods, including UV flexographic printing, letterpress printing and screen printing. The checkerboard pattern can be customized with brand-specific lettering or logos as a custom-made product.
