UPM material reaches two million cuts
The OptiCut RL54 linerless label achieves a milestone in GeBE printer testing.
UPM Raflatac's OptiCut RL54 linerless label material has reached two million cuts without blade cleaning in long-term testing conducted by GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH, a provider of thermal printing systems.
The material has been officially approved for use in GeBE linerless printers, delivering thermal print quality while significantly reducing printhead contamination to contribute to lower maintenance costs and longer equipment lifespan.
'The extensive testing proved that UPM's linerless label material has exceptional processing properties, which contributes to less maintenance and longer equipment lifespan,' explained Klaus Baldig, development manager at GeBE. 'For us as specialists in linerless, it brings valuable operational efficiency in printing and cutting.'
The OptiCut adhesive was engineered to minimize residue and ensure smooth operation in high-speed linerless cutter systems, with the testing demonstrating the efficiency of the material in real-world applications.
GeBE's linerless printers paired with UPM Raflatac OptiCut RL54 reduce linerless roll change times to under a minute, minimizing downtime and labor costs.
'Building on years of successful partnership in linerless technology development, we are now strengthening our cooperation with GeBE to advance high-performance, sustainable options for the Print & Apply market,' commented Marko Tiainen, business growth manager for linerless at UPM Adhesive Materials.
