Toronto label company wins award

Toronto-based Metro Label have won Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies award, one of the country’s most elite business honors.
A second generation family-run business, Metro Label was founded in 1974, and today it is the largest producer of pressure sensitive labels in Canada, with manufacturing facilities in Toronto (Ontario), Langley (British Colombia), Montreal (Quebec), and Napa Valley (California). Metro Label has a wide range of market experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical, wine and spirits, nutraceutical, health and beauty, household and gardening, meat and food processing, beverages and supermarket.
With environmental concerns ranking high on their list of priorities, the company is working towards being the first label company in Canada to implement the ISO 14001 Environment Management System (EMS), a voluntary adoption of stringent international guidelines to minimize pollution and maximize energy use. In August 2005 Metro Label relocated their Toronto office to a new 132000 square foot, eco-friendly building. Currently undergoing a certification process, the company is expected to be the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified manufacturing facility in Canada by March 2006.
‘Winning this award is a formal recognition that our strategy of embodying the highest standards of excellence in everything we do and developing mutually beneficial partnerships works. We are ecstatic to receive this stamp of excellence,’ said Mr Sandeep Lal, president of Metro Label.
Established in 1993, the 50 Best Managed award is a national program, recognizing Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways.
