Van Genechten Packaging, Europe's largest independent folding carton producer, has underlined its strategy in the premium packaging market with investment in a Speedmaster XL 105-8+LYYLX3 high-performance, fully automated offset press from Heidelberg.

This investment will take place at the site of VG Angoulême, which is fully dedicated to the premium packaging market.

Van Genechten Packaging is a group comprising of 10 folding carton factories in seven countries, serving the European consumer goods industry with cardboard boxes, microflute packaging and packaging systems. France is one of the most important packaging markets for luxury goods like perfume/ cosmetics and beverages like champagne/cognac and whisky.

Configuration and use

The XL 105-8+LYYLX3 configuration consists of eight printing units and double coating units, full UV printing, and automatic pile changing at feeder and delivery.

Heidelberg said this will enable Van Genechten Angoulême to produce value-added effects like gloss/mat varnishes, metallic/iriodin coatings and also print in-line a high variety of ink and coating combinations with opaque white on aluminium coated cardboard.
