VistaPrint has recently purchased four automated label systems from Polar for its plants in Canada and the Netherlands. VistaPrint provides custom designed, full-color printed products and already has five label systems from Polar.

These automated cutting systems are said to be a perfect fit for VistaPrint’s high-powered production lines. Depending on the size of the product, the systems are cutting and banding up to 1,500 jobs per hour.

Over 10 million small businesses and consumers have already chosen VistaPrint for products ranging from business cards and brochures to invitations and thank-you cards. Products are printed at VistaPrint’s two plants in North America and Europe that total over 200,000 square feet of production space. A global company, VistaPrint employs more than 1,000 people and operates 18 localized websites serving over 120 countries around the world.

In the ordered SC-21 label system the material is first cut into strips by a Polar 137 Autotrim M automated cutter. After that, a POLAR Autocut 115 cuts the products to the required size. Finally the stacks are banded by a BM-105 multi-station bander. The strip cutting, feeding of strips to the Autocut, label cutting and the banding are all carried out in a fully-automated process. Compared to a conventional installation, this system can process the jobs from the raw sheet to the finished product in one go, and pays off in no time, says the company.

‘Polar has been a reliable partner for us over the years,’ said Wendy Cebula, COO of VistaPrint. ‘We feel positive about the investment we’ve made in their cutting systems and are confident about this order for the automated label systems.’
