W&H hosts successful in-house expo

- Expo included live demonstrations of printing and extrusion technologies for flexible packaging, including software and job management tools to streamline processes
- Followed Drupa 2012 and preceded K 2013, where W&H had and will have a strong presence
German flexible packaging machinery manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) has staged a successful in-house exhibition to showcase its printing, extrusion and converting equipment for flexible packaging to an international audience.
The W&H in-house expo, which took place this week, was well attended, with around 500 attendees traveling from more than 50 countries to the company’s Lengerich facility, close to Münster, Germany.
This included a large delegation from Asian countries, as well as those who had traveled from North and South America to the event.
The exhibition included live demonstrations of W&H’s Miraflex (pictured, top), Vistaflex and Heliostar S printing technologies, and its Aquarex, Optimex and Varex extrusion equipment.
Representatives of the W&H team were also available to discuss the company’s service, repair and retrofit operations, as were partners from across the flexible packaging supply chain.
In his opening remarks, managing director Peter Steinbeck said W&H had a record year in 2011 with turnover of €550 million, and was optimistic for its performance in 2012 and 2013.
The in-house expo had the title “Competence in Flexible Packaging”, and Steinbeck said: ‘We are showing a portfolio of technologies and application opportunities.
‘We’re focusing on the complete supply chain, from the grain to package converting. This is essential in optimizing processes in our customers’ operations.’
A member of the W&H technical staff mingling with visitors at the event said it was very pleasing that the company had been able to draw such a large number of attendees from around the world, despite it taking place only six months after Drupa 2012, where W&H had a large stand.
The W&H in-house expo also took place ahead of K, the international tradeshow for plastics and rubber scheduled for next October in Düsseldorf, where W&H will again have a large stand.
W&H has also responded to the news that the next instalment of Drupa will take place in 2016 over an 11-day period. Read the thoughts of the company’s chief executive officer Dr Jürgen Vutz here, with more industry feedback to Drupa’s change to an 11-day schedule in 2016 here
