ZED announces four production sites for direct laser engravers

ZED Instruments announces the installation of four multi-beam direct digital laser engravers for flexo at customer sites across Europe. The first, at trade house NEROC Prepack, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is now in full production.

The results are excellent, according to ZED. ‘Printed bar codes achieve Class A category. Line screens of 150 lpi (60 lpcm) and excellent reversals (down to 2-point text) are easily achieved, with printers reporting increased press speeds.’

NEROC Prepack’s operation uses directly ablated seamless elastomeric sleeves and 1-bit TIFF files created using Artwork Systems’ Nexus RIP.

At a second installation of a multi-beam ZEDMini, hl-repro, in Hedensted, Denmark, is using ZED’s FlexoDirect software with both 1 and 8-bit TIFF files to screen grey files ‘on-the-fly’ at the time of engraving.
