LP2i Étiquettes has installed a digital hybrid printing system combining Domino's N730i Integration Module and K600i monochrome inkjet printer with Grafotronic web handling and Lake Image Systems inspection technology, enabling direct printing onto label adhesive for extended content and peel-and-reveal multi-layer label production.

The approach reduces the number of unwinding and rewinding steps required for multi-layer label printing by printing directly onto the adhesive layer, accelerating production while allowing each element of the label, from the first page through to additional panels and stubs, to be fully customized.

The N730i Integration Module delivers 1,200 DPI print resolution at 70m/min, with a High-Speed Productivity Mode enabling operation at 90m/min. High-opacity white ink provides a consistent background for text printed onto the adhesive, with microtext down to 2pt remaining legible. The K600i adds variable data, text and 2D codes to the adhesive layer, while the Lake Image Systems inspection system monitors print quality and verifies 2D codes.

'We have saved an enormous amount of time producing extended content labels,' said Axel Néri, operator at LP2i Étiquettes. 'I can spot print onto the adhesive, which is very easy. We started at 70m/min and then upgraded to 90m/min, which is extremely fast.'

'The new process increases our productivity, capacity and profitability, because we save on materials and time,' added Patrice Néri, founder of LP2i Étiquettes.

'This project is an excellent example of how close collaboration, technical expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement can deliver greater efficiency and consistency,' said Sebastién Van Der Luys, business development manager EMEA at Domino Printing Sciences.
