Slate Group enters labels with GM
The US-based print marketing company invested in a complete finishing system from GM.
Slate Group has expanded into label manufacturing with a complete finishing system from GM. The investment enables the US-based print marketing company to bring the quality, creativity and responsiveness that have defined its business into an entirely new product category.
With a national presence and a broad portfolio spanning offset, digital, wide-format printing, apparel, fulfillment and marketing, Slate Group has built its reputation by helping customers differentiate their brands through creative print and premium finishing. The company's expansion into label manufacturing represents the next step in its growth strategy, enabling customers to source a wider range of high-value print applications from a single trusted partner.
To support the launch of its new label department, Slate Group invested in a complete GM finishing system comprising a DC350Flex with JetFx Digital Embellishment, a standalone HF350 Hot Foil unit and an RS350 Sheeter.
The DC350Flex modular finishing line provides the flexibility to produce everything from standard pressure-sensitive labels to premium embellished applications while supporting both current customer requirements and future business opportunities.
For Trey Laverty, director of sales and marketing at Slate Group, the investment was about far more than adding new equipment.
He said: 'At Slate Group, we're known for creativity, embellishment work and fast turn times, and label manufacturing is the newest addition to our capabilities. As we expanded into this market, we wanted equipment that would allow us to bring that same standard into labels without compromise.
'Our production line includes the GM DC350Flex with JetFx digital embellishment, a standalone HF350 hot foil unit and an RS350 sheeter, giving us the flexibility to offer nearly every finish and format our current and future customers could need. That flexibility allows us to continue delivering the premium solutions our customers expect while opening new opportunities for future growth.
'Just as importantly, we found a company that shares our values, a commitment to quality, responsiveness, and putting customers first.
'What has truly set GM apart, however, is the people behind the equipment. The GM team, Brady, Hector and Kyle, have gone above and beyond throughout the process of standing up an entirely new in-house department. They were always available, always responsive and genuinely invested in getting us up and running right.
'Launching a new department is never just about the machines; it's about having partners who show up when it matters. GM proved they're exactly that kind of partner, and it's why we'd recommend them without hesitation.'
The project demonstrates how commercial printers can successfully expand into label manufacturing by combining flexible finishing technology with the right implementation partner, enabling new applications, higher-value products and long-term business growth.
Visitors to Loupe Americas 2026 can experience the same GM finishing system that Slate Group selected at booth 6311. Visitors can also meet Brady Farrell, Kyle Farrell and Hector Perez from the GM team, who played a key role in supporting Slate Group's implementation and will be available throughout the exhibition to discuss similar projects.
