Hybrid Software launches Packz 11 with integrated RIP technology

Belgian software developer introduces PDF editor with built-in Harlequin RIP capabilities and enhanced CF2 format support for packaging workflows.

Hybrid Software has released Packz 11, featuring Packz Max with integrated Harlequin RIP technology that enables screening control directly within the PDF editor environment. The update includes extended CF2 file format support and automated barcode conversion capabilities aligned with GS1 Sunrise 2027 requirements.

Packz Max combines PDF editing functionality with live RIP processing, eliminating the need for separate RIP servers in flexographic and offset printing operations. The integrated system generates real-time rasterized previews and manages output to platesetters from a single application.

'Packz Max is a true game-changer, built entirely on Hybrid's proprietary tech stack with the industry-leading Harlequin RIP inside,' said Pascal Wybo, product manager. 'For the first time ever, flexo prepress service providers and printing houses can handle all prepress operations within a single unified application.'

The software delivers screening quality control, gradient optimization and color consistency while converting artwork into precise dot patterns. Users can access advanced PDF editing with integrated screening and optimized 1-bit TIFF output for enhanced print quality and operational efficiency.

Packz 11 introduces support for extended CF2 format capabilities developed collaboratively with industry partners for folding carton and corrugated packaging applications. The enhanced format incorporates bend angles and creasing line sequencing data essential for 3D visualization and automated formatting processes.

The extended CF2 format integrates with 3D modeling software including Hybrid's iC3D ray-tracing technology and structural design management systems. Digital cutting and folding equipment can interpret the standardized format data for improved workflow compatibility.

The release addresses GS1 Sunrise 2027 initiative requirements through automated barcode conversion functionality. Packz 11 identifies traditional barcodes and converts them to data-rich GS1 QR Codes and GS1 Data Matrix symbols, supporting enhanced product traceability and consumer engagement capabilities.
