Luster presents AI-driven solutions at LMAI Conference 2025
The LMAI Conference will take place from July 3–6 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Luster, represented in India by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), has confirmed its participation in the LMAI Conference 2025, to be held under the theme ‘emerging beyond boundaries’ from July 3 to 6 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The company will promote its AI-powered inspection technologies at the event.
Established in 1996, Luster is the first company in China to develop vision inspection technologies for the printing business. Over the years, the company has grown from a regional player to a global leader in engineering automated print inspection systems. 'Currently, we’ve expanded our technology from a traditional defect detection system to AI-powered vision systems with advanced optical design to enhance the inspection accuracy further, easy to use and wide-adaptive capability to different print jobs and requirements,' said Carrie Duan, international sales manager, Luster LightTech.
She added: 'Our global reach now extends to strategic partnerships in Europe, North America, and Asia, with India being a key market driven by its great potential and big population. Last year, Luster acquired JAI, a 60-year-old Japanese industrial camera manufacturer. It’s our privilege to be at the Indian label industry’s landmark event, such as the LMAI Conference 2025. As a future expansion plan in the country’s label industry, we closely work with FIG to offer more in-depth technology for clients, increasingly demanding for grown code reading requirements.'
Designed to install either on label printing presses or slitting rewinders, the Luster system provides light, sound and visual alarms to warn operators about defects. This allows for optimising press uptime with real-time adjustments and preventing continuous waste. The system guarantees 100 percent inspection of all printing processes, including die-cutting, stamping, and code printing, ensuring that no faulty labels are output.
Luster builds on key strengths of the latest inspection technology for labels and packaging, including evolving AI technology and other advancements. First, its high-speed AI defect detection identifies issues like minor misprints, colour shifts, and variable code errors. Second, its multi-camera synchronisation ensures 100 percent coverage, even in complex label designs. Third, its seamless integration with existing printing and finishing lines eventually improves efficiency. Last but not least, its sustainability-driven waste reduction helps clients cut material losses up to 30 percent.
Luster’s AI technology is based on 29 years of print big data, and it owns the world’s leading vision algorithm library, Visionware. Duan said: 'We use deep learning algorithms trained on millions of print samples to self-learn defect patterns, adapt to new print jobs without manual setup, and predict potential quality drifts before they impact production. After all, this AI-driven approach ensures higher accuracy and faster setup times compared to traditional rule-based systems.'
When it comes to post-installation support for Indian customers, Duan shared: 'FIG has been working with us for more than five years now, serving every single customer in the country with utmost satisfaction.' She added: 'Together with FIG, we conduct onsite and virtual trainings for operators. We provide 24/7 remote monitoring and troubleshooting via our support hub, and regular software updates with new AI models for evolving print challenges.'
On the sustainability and automation fronts, Luster offers Smart factory technology, including ERP, MES, AGV and Smart warehousing. Duan concluded: 'With the new development of AI and automation technologies, our ultimate mission is to help the label industry become more intelligent and automated and help printers and converters grow and achieve their visions.'
