Heidelberg has sold its first Speedmaster XL 162 to a Middle East printer, Mosbah Packaging Press in Cairo.  The five-color press with coating unit will be installed this summer in a new 6,000-sqm production unit.  The company produces high-quality folding cartons for Egypt's food and confectionery industry, and the new Heidelberg will join two Speedmaster CD 102 presses, a Speedmaster SM 74 and a GTO 52. Mosbah converts 20,000 metric tons of cartonboard each year in three-shift operation, and the new investment is aimed at doubling that figure, which would represent impressive growth for this family business that began life in 1964

The large-format Speedmaster XL 145 and XL 162 presses are based on the XL 105 and offer fast make-ready, reduced paper waste, consistently high print quality, good flexibility with a range of substrates, and high availability.  Simultaneous washing of the blanket and impression cylinders, and fully automatic plate changing reduce make-ready times, while Prinect print shop workflow enables this format to be fully integrated in an end-to-end solution.
