AIMCAL presents 2013 Converting School schedule

The Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) has announced details of the sixth edition of its Converting School. The 2013 schedule consists of 13 two-day sessions, 12 in the United States and one in Europe (Brussels, Belgium).
Four courses will be held twice: Web Handling and Converting; Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements; Adhesion and Adhesives for Converters; and Web Slitting Technology. The remaining five subject areas include Optimizing Extrusion-Based Lamination and Coating Technology; Substrate Secrets; Drives in Web Handling and Converting; Coating Process Development; and Solution Preparation and Mixing.
‘AIMCAL has organized a schedule of highly rated courses with world-class instructors for the 2013 edition of Converting School,’ said Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL.
Classes begin in February 2013 in Chicago, Illinois, with Web Handling and Converting (February 26-27) and Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements (February 28-March 1), taught by Dr David Roisum of Finishing Technologies, based in Neenah, Wisconsin. Dr Roisum will repeat both courses on September 17-18, 2013, and September 19-20, 2013, respectively, also in Chicago.
Adhesion and Adhesives for Converters will be taught May 2-3, 2013, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and November 6-7, 2013, in Brussels, Belgium, by Dr Steven Abbott, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and founder of TCNF, based in Ipswich, UK.
Web Slitting Technology, taught by Dave Rumson, an independent slitting consultant, will be held June 6-7, 2013, in Charlotte, and repeated November 12-13, 2013, in Chicago.
Dates and locations for the remaining courses can be found in the L&L event diary. Other instructors include AIMCAL Technical Consultants Dr Edward Cohen and Dr Eldridge Mount III; plus Dr E.J. (Ted) Lightfoot of the Display Films and Coatings business of DuPont; Dr Kenneth McCarthy of Clean Room Coating Solutions; and Clarence Klassen of KlassENgineering.
Course content is tailored to the background and experience levels of the participants who typically work in a converting-related business in engineering, operations, maintenance, quality assurance, sales or customer service.
