Beverage company installs Karville shrink sleeve technology

Aimia Foods, an independent supplier of hot and cold drinks, has installed a Karlville Tornado shrink sleeve tunnel to achieve higher quality shrink sleeve appearance and reduced set-up and changeover times between different shapes and sizes of jar.
Aimia Food has supplied vending, foodservice and retail customers for more than 27 years and has a turnover in excess of GBP £60 million. Dave Brown, head of engineering at Aimia, said: ‘We’ve been impressed with the overall Karlville set up, people and product. The installation has gone very smoothly.’
The Tornado tunnel is said to achieve high quality shrink results, comparable to steam tunnel quality, utilizing hot air. It uses a fraction of the energy required by steam or certain equivalent hot air systems, while bacterial contamination is minimized.
The Karlville Tornado was designed for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, heat sensitive food products such as probiotic drinks and moisture sensitive products such as sweetened powders, teas and coffees. The Tornado is also suited to empty containers where the container expansion is minimized producing a tight, high quality shrink sleeve when the container cools.
