GEW to feature UV operating tools at Labelexpo Europe

At Labelexpo Europe 2009 GEW will feature its e-System range of UV lamp heads, which are claimed to offer the combined benefits of increased UV output with reduced energy consumption and CO2.
System enhancements include a new lamp head reflector profile for its VCP model with highly focused range that includes cold shutter and cold filter to optimize UV efficiency with cooler running.
With the emphasis on increased efficiencies with time and cost savings, GEW’s new internet technology has been optimized to enable remote monitoring linked to a customer’s UV system from its headquarters in the UK. Conditions that affect UV curing performance, reliability and efficiency such as ambient factory temperature, unchanged filters or other minor maintenance issues can be diagnosed and corrected eliminating the need for unnecessary service calls.
Further energy efficiency enhancements have been made to the company’s electronic power supplies with GreenTime, a stand-by system that allows the operator to be away from the production area and program a conveniently timed re-start. GreenTime features an auto-power off function that can be pre-set to switch off after a certain amount of time on stand-by. This means no time is wasted in waiting for the UV system to warm up and eliminates energy wastage during, for example, lunch hour and ensures the lamps are ready to go when the operator returns.
A new inert gas atmosphere UV system will also be introduced for curing inks in food packaging applications where there is a requirement to minimize oxygen levels within the UV curing chamber. The system enables curing of inks formulated with low levels of photoinitiators.
GEW will discuss its products at a press conference held at the Labelexpo Europe press room at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 23.
