Positive feedback for AVT’s PrintVision/Orion

Advanced Vision Technology (AVT), a supplier of automatic inspection and quality assurance solutions for the printing industry, has received positive feedback on its PrintVision/Orion 100 percent automatic inspection for folding carton, single pack applications.
PrintVision/Orion was introduced at Drupa in 2008. Shortly thereafter, the Stratus Group in West Chester, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, became the first beta site for the Orion platform. After more than six months of testing, the Stratus Group gave its final acceptance to the system.
Stratus Group is using PrintVision/Orion to automatically inspect individual die-cut package blanks for one of its pharmaceutical clients. The system is installed post press and die-cutting, inspecting each package prior to gluing. Orion operates around the clock on a 24/5 basis and literally inspects millions of packages.
Curt Curran, VP of Stratus Group, stated, ‘We are receiving excellent results from AVT’s PrintVision/Orion system. We inspect for color, registration, type and die-cutting. Our client’s packaging often has small print and we must be confident that the type is in place and readable. The speed of Orion is truly impressive, but what really counts is that this 100 percent automatic system totally eliminates the human error factor. Any pieces that are not consistent with our strict quality criteria are simply rejected. Our clients are very pleased with our quality control initiatives. Since installing the Orion system, our delivery of millions of packages shows zero defects.’
Gal Shamri, AVT corporate VP marketing, commented: ‘The PrintVision/Orion brings to the folding carton market the high level of quality assurance and control other packaging segments enjoyed for years already. The Orion 100 percent automatic inspection capabilities ensure products are delivered with the exact quality level required, hence improving customer’s satisfaction and Printer’s competitive edge.’
