Argentine converter purchases Edale Alpha press

Argentina-based Mai S.A. has purchased a 4-color Alpha compact flexo press water-based drying from UK manufacturer Edale. The company is a manufacturer of tea bag packaging machines and runs a separate department for the printing of tea bag labels and envelopes.

Mai was founded in the 1970s by Pablo Enrique Mai, whose son Pablo Mai is the current president. ‘I’ve been familiar with Edale for years. After researching the product range, the Alpha looked the most appropriate for our business needs so I arranged a visit to Edale’s head office in the UK to watch a demonstration of the machine in their showroom.’

Pablo Mai was said to be impressed with the machine’s high print quality and its compact design of 2.5 square meters. Unique to Mai’s machine is a 1.2m free-standing unwind, developed from Edale’s modular flexo press, the Beta.

‘We chose an Edale Alpha because of its versatility and the capability to adapt to our width of paper band,’ continued Mai. ‘Our jobs need versatile, compact machines, as we print a lot of different tags in short runs. The Alpha was ideal as it is a robust and well-engineered press.’
