Set to provide a challenge with different inkjet printheads, different DPIs and different inks, it was never anticipated that all the printed images would look identical. Two of the companies which followed the exact specifications of the Inkjet Trail in terms of image design and materials were Stork Prints and Domino.  Labels & Labeling asked them for their comments on the Inkjet Trail over the first two days.

Said Desiree Ordelman, communications manager at Stork Prints: ‘The Inkjet Trail gave us the opportunity to demonstrate simple CMYK designs and more complex jobs which included screen-type effects, high color strength and tonal values down to one percent. Our customers were impressed by these features and the versatility of the DSI on a range of applications and substrates.’

Jon Pritchard product manager at Domino, commented: ‘We are extremely pleased with the performance of our N610i digital press and we are impressed with the attendance the trail brought, which has allowed us to show the full potential of the N610i digital press.’

Interest in inkjet technology has been one of the highlight features of the show, and the Inkjet Trail has set out the features and technologies of the different press participants and printhead technologies. We can undoubtedly look forward to escalating growth in inkjet technology over the next three to five years.

A more detailed analysis of the printed results of the Inkjet Trail will be published in a forthcoming edition of Labels & Labeling.
