L9 announces 2015 World Label Awards category winners

The winners of the 2015 L9 World Label Awards competition have been announced, after judgement by an international jury prior to Labelexpo Europe in September 2015.

L9 World Label Awards Class 18 winner: Collotype Labels, USA for ‘Diströya’ (Finat)

The current awards structure includes 22 classes covering the primary printing processes and market applications. The results are listed in class order with the winners announced first followed by the honorable mention awards. Each label is judged initially on its technical merits with the judges examining each submission in the minutest detail.

The judges for this year’s competition included Tony White (chairman), Mike Buystedt (TLMI), Andrew Maxwell (Latma), Tony Wheeler (SALMA), Yao Yi (PEIAC) and Sumio Morimoto (JFLP). ‘We are always looking for that extra mile as far as quality goes,’ said White. ‘More than ever, the quality has amazed us, pushing the technical limits of label production to new heights.’

L9 is an alliance of global label associations created for the purpose of formulating policies and gathering strategic information in connection with global matters affecting the worldwide label industry. Since its inception 24 year ago, the World Label Awards has grown into a worldwide international competition with members of all L9 associations eligible to enter. The associations taking part this year included Finat (Europe), TLMI (USA), JFLP (Japan), Latma(Australia), SALMA (New Zealand), PEIAC (China) and AMETIQ (Mexico).

Five additional L9 World Label Awards, representing the 'Best of the Best' entries from the principal printing processes, were included in the judging process. The awards will be presented at Labelexpo Americas 2016, taking place September 13-15 in Chicago. The winners have been selected from the winning entries in the 2015 L9 World Label Awards competition from the following classes: flexography, letterpress, offset litho, combination printing and digital printing.

Judging for the 2016 L9 World Label Aawards competition will take place on September 12 ahead of Lasbelexpo Americas 2016.
