Team Tarsus progresses with charity effort

The Tarsus office in London has been busy baking, eating and eating again to raise money for Events for Namuwongo, the charity at the center of its Three Peaks challenge.

Cake bake

A team of employees from Tarsus, the parent company of Labels & Labeling, is planning to climb the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within a 24-hour period, and has been holding fundraising events in pursuit of its £10,000 target.

This has included a cake bake and a picnic for non-climbing employees to participate in its charity drive.

But it hasn’t been all rolling pins, bake sales and munching. Team Tarsus has been hitting the hills for training walks to get those leg muscles ready for the Three Peaks challenge.

You can follow their progress on the blog, which can be accessed via the fundraising site here.

Events for Namuwongo is a partnership of companies and individuals from the Events Industry who have come together to support the Namuwongo slum, near Kampala in Uganda, and give its 30,000 inhabitants a brighter future.

Despite poverty, chronic malnutrition, polluted water, drug abuse, sexual exploitation, AIDS, a derelict sanitation system and an average wage of only 20p a day, the community are striving to improve their own lives. With your help Events for Namuwongo can continue to work with them to facilitate real change.

This year the charity plans to raise £400,000 in order to provide:

Free, clean water

Life-saving sanitation

Essential health care

Education for 500 children a year

A new school - The HOPE academy

Adult education services

Free sanitary products

A long lasting relationship with the community

The £10,000 Tarsus is aiming to raise should tip Events for Namuwongo’s current running total into the £300,000 mark so please donate what you can.  The Three Peaks challenge will put the team’s physical and mental stamina to the ultimate test so they need all the encouragement they can get to make it all worthwhile.
