Marzek wins WorldStar and Golden Pixel awards

Austrian label specialist recognized for thermochromic wine label and bioplastic bottle project.

Marzek Etiketten+Packaging has received the WorldStar Award from the World Packaging Organisation and a Golden Pixel Award for two packaging projects.

The Golden Pixel Award in the flexographic printing projects category recognized a thermochromic label for Zweigelt Freddo wine from Nittnaus Brothers winery. The label uses thermochromic dyes that indicate when the red wine reaches its optimal temperature of 10-12 degrees Celsius, turning grapes in the Nittnaus logo blue and displaying 'Perfectly tempered' in blue text. The label features gold foil stamping on the winery's logo.

'We are delighted to receive the Golden Pixel Award and would like to thank the jury for recognising our achievements. Of course, we would like to express our special thanks to the Nittnaus Brothers Winery for their trust and long-standing cooperation. Together, we can develop exceptional, highly refined labels that perfectly showcase exquisite top-quality wines,' stated Stefanie Wareka, fifth generation Marzek.

The WorldStar Award in the food category recognized the label and filling of Vieno Pure Classic rapeseed and sunflower oil in a bioplastic bottle. Marzek developed the project in collaboration with Vimeksim International, with bottles produced by NaKu, which specializes in packaging made from bioplastics based on renewable raw materials.

'In addition to our innovative printing technologies, we owe these successes above all to the competent Marzek team, which implements every project with the utmost care and professionalism,' added Wareka.
