Big three sign up for Label Summit India
Label Summit India 2006, taking place in Mumbai on 21-22 February 2006 is sparking interest from across the industry with Gallus, Mark Andy and Nilpeter already signed up as exhibitors, and with the support of both the Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) and the Bombay Master Printers Association.
The event will take the same form as the other Label Summits organized by Labelexpo, with a high-level educative and training-led conference and masterclasses - and a tabletop exhibition running alongside. Topics to be covered include: added value opportunities with pressure-sensitive labels; markets and applications for filmic label substrates; the use of variably printed labels for logistics and distribution; the opportunities and potential in India for RFID smart labels; the nature and use of digital label printing technology; and developments in security labels and solutions.
Label industry growth rates in India are conservatively estimated between 20 per cent and 25 per cent. It is expected that India will become a major exporter of label products and the coming Indian retail revolution will also support this rapid growth internally. Low manufacturing costs, combined with a labor force able to communicate in English make India a serious competitor to China as label leader. The signs are already there: most of the world’s RFID software development is currently being undertaken in India.
Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: “With its population of more than one billion and a middle class larger than the entire population of the United States, the opportunities in India are huge and the rewards have never been greater. Label Summit India will provide unprecedented access to this market, giving international suppliers a unique opportunity to demonstrate a wide range of label solutions to an audience eager to learn and invest in new technology.”
