Label Summit Latin America 2011, which took place in Sao Paulo last week, attracted 720 delegates – the highest attendance ever at any Label Summit in the world. This was the fourth edition of the two-day conference and table-top exhibition in Brazil.

Top label converters in the region are very positive about the opportunities in the market and are reporting growth in excess of 30 percent.

Highlights from the conference included the opening keynote by UPM Raflatac (with standing room only), a leadership panel discussion by top converters from Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Peru and Chile and a case study on beverage labeling and opportunities in the Brazilian label market. Altogether 46 speakers took part in 13 sessions.

This was the first Label Summit to feature live working machinery demonstrations, in this case an HP Indigo WS6000 digital press. Delegates were able to meet with 54 exhibitors from around the world.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘In the past two years there has been a clear shift in Brazil – one of the most exciting label markets in the world. As label consumption grows, printing standards are raised and especially the beverage market presents very exciting opportunities. We would like to thank all our exhibitors, speakers and delegates for making Label Summit Latin America such a success and we look forward to working with them to facilitate the growth in the region.’
