Record participation for Pro Carton/ECMA Award 2013

Judging has commenced in the 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA awards program, with a record number of participants in this year’s competition.
More than 100 entries have been received for the eight categories and three special awards in the Pro Carton/ECMA Award 2013 contest, from 49 companies in 11 countries, and from across the entire packaging supply chain. This included 14 newcomers to the competition.
2012 was the first year that entries were accepted for the Pro Carton/ECMA Award from the entire packaging supply chain, and no longer limited to the members of Pro Carton or ECMA; anyone involved in the development of a concept with cartonboard, from brand owners, retail trade or design, was welcome to enter directly.
This growth to represent the whole packaging supply chain is also represented in the jury, which this year includes: Satkar Gidda of SiebertHead, who took the position of jury chair and covered the design aspect; Stan Akkermans of Mars, representing brand owners; Wilfried Duivenvoorden of Unilever, who covered aspects of the branded goods industry; Anne Harding from Marks & Spencer, an expert on the retail trade; and Peter Klein Sprokkelhorst, providing the jury with expert advice on the technical subtleties of the entered cartons.
The 2013 finalists will be announced in August, with the prizes will awarded on September 19 as part of the ECMA Congress in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The winners will then embark on a roadshow, commencing at Labelexpo Europe 2013, taking place September 24-27 in Brussels, Belgium.
