Uni Packaging creates digitally printed bags for Bensdorp’s new Barista range
Barry Callebaut Beverages, the B2B beverage division of Barry Callebaut, a global manufacturer of chocolate products, has used digital package printing to introduce a new range of cocoa and chocolate drink powders.

The Barista single origin range from Bensdorp, a Barry Callebaut brand, consists of three variants of drink powder each packaged in a 750g vertical form filled seal, 3-ply laminated stand-up bag.
The bags were produced at Uni Packaging’s St. Helens site in the UK and printed via the group’s digital print service, Digiflex, which is powered by HP Indigo digital printing technology. Given the short run requirement and the ability to print various designs consecutively with no additional setup, digital print is described as ‘the ideal solution’ for the launch of the range by UNI Packaging UK managing director Rod Entwistle, who added: ‘The versatility of digital is an attraction for brands.
‘Increased synergies between marketing and packaging departments within businesses is made possible by the capabilities of digital, where the on pack content, however variable, does not require compromise on either side.’
Paula Bentley, head of UK sales at Barry Callebaut Beverages, added: ‘As the global leading manufacturer and supplier of quality chocolate, Barry Callebaut has to be diverse to remain relevant. With the three variants in this particular range, the packaging solution provided by UNI Packaging, in particular the effectiveness of its digital print capability, went beyond our expectations.’
‘As with the Bensdorp Barista single origin range, digital can be leveraged to deliver packaging printing requirements in a number of ways, including product launches, emergencies such as delays, or to support a conventional process,’ concluded Entwistle.
