Colordyne and DJM partner on inkjet tech

Colordyne Technologies and DJM have partnered to expand the deployment of industrial inkjet technology across North America, with a focus on retrofit integration into existing production environments.

This collaboration combines a broad and distinctive inkjet portfolio with local market expertise and a strong regional presence.

As demand for higher print quality continues to rise, printers are under increasing pressure to improve productivity while reducing operational costs. Consequently, many traditional continuous inkjet (CIJ) systems, including legacy Kodak installations, are being considered for replacement with more advanced technologies.

DJM’s Eureka print technology, powered by the DJM OctiPus software controller, is suitable for high-volume printing environments. Together, they deliver improvements in productivity, flexibility and cost efficiency, enabling print service providers to meet evolving customer expectations while optimizing their operations.

Colordyne brings an established North American presence, operating as the customer-facing and execution partner within the region. Within the partnership, Colordyne will take responsibility for local integration, installation and service delivery, supporting the deployment of digital inkjet technologies into existing converter environments. As the partnership moves from initial pilot installations into structured execution, Colordyne is expected to play a central role in enabling access to converter environments and supporting retrofit integration across the market.

DJM brings almost 35 years of experience in industrial inkjet, with more than 400 systems installed across 28 countries. Its technology is built around a printhead-independent architecture, supporting multiple inkjet technologies and ink platforms. DJM provides the system architecture, electronics, controls and data platform that enable reliable, production-ready integration into industrial environments.

The combined technology is designed for retrofit integration into existing web presses, finishing equipment and converting machines. Systems are designed to operate in-line at existing production speeds, allowing users to introduce digital capability without major changes to their current manufacturing processes.

Typical applications include barcode printing, traceability and compliance marking and short-run SKU flexibility, supporting converters as they respond to increasing complexity in production and regulatory requirements.

The partnership enables a practical path for converters to transition from analog processes to hybrid production models, combining existing infrastructure with digital capability.

Initial activities are focused on structured commercial development across packaging, mailing and label segments, with defined opportunities already being progressed jointly by both companies.

Through this partnership, Colordyne and DJM aim to accelerate the adoption of industrial inkjet in North America, enabling converters to increase flexibility, reduce complexity and adapt to evolving production demands.
