Digital label helps increase sales by 30 percent

BH Barcode, a converter based in Israel, is helping its customers to be more profitable with its range of high-quality, digitally printed labels produced on an HP Indigo ws4500 press.

BH Barcode, a privately owned business with 30 employees, installed the ws4500 one year ago for the production of labels and barcodes with variable content. In September 2010, it was recognized at the fourth annual HP Indigo Digital Labels and Packaging Awards Contest, where the company was awarded first prize in the ‘Health and Beauty’ category. The winning label used HP ElectroInk White and a special bronze effect, completed on BH Barcode’s in-house finishing system. The customer, for whom the label was produced, reported that sales of the product featuring the new label design increased by 30 percent.

‘The HP Indigo press ws4500 and its HP ElectroInk liquid ink technology is the only color process in digital printing that, in my opinion, exceeds the quality and color range of offset,’ said Yaniv Harari, manager, BH Barcode. ‘Out of the seven colors available, I use mostly Pantone Emulation gray, orange and a lot of white, but having this range of colors enables me to offer my customers superior designs and meet their brands’ color requirements with consistently accurate print.’

The company produces labels for businesses within the plastics, medical, textile, shipping, wine and cosmetics industries.

‘Variable data printing capabilities are very important for the industries we work in, but digital technology also enables us to offer our customers cost-effective, short-runs for highly profitable solutions,’ said Harari.

‘In addition, the speed of our HP Indigo ws4500 and the quick set up time were key reasons why we purchased this press. It helps us to achieve fast turnarounds, which is important for a company who is running a 24/7 shift, and I can show my customers immediate results without making unnecessary orders or doing print tests beforehand.’
