Diströya wins inaugural Digital Group in FINAT Label Awards

Collotype Labels (US) has been named as the inaugural Digital Group winner at the FINAT Label Awards for the ‘fearsome looking’ label it produced for Diströya, a 70-proof liquor.

Collotype Labels (US) used liquid toner to produce the Diströya label

Digital was a new group introduced this year to the FINAT Label Awards, the 35th annual contest, to recognize the significant part that digital printing is playing in the narrow web industry. The group included three categories covering the main digital printing technologies: liquid toner, dry toner and inkjet.

Collotype Labels (US) used liquid toner to produce the Diströya label, and used a 210 line screen to achieve the ‘extraordinary detail’ in the illustrations and the script type, which can be seen throughout the label.

The label also features embossing and debossing, foil stamping and spot varnishes, all in exact register.

The 2015 FINAT Label Awards judges added that the detail in the four medals is easily legible and the addition of a blue stamp adds a touch of color to the end result.

‘The background effect of the label being printed on parchment paper is a genius touch,’ the judges concluded.

A further two awards were presented in the Digital Group, with Collotype Labels North America Wine and Spirits (US), again using liquid toner, honored for the Tres Manos entry, and Kimoha Entrepreneurs selected for its use of dry toner to produce the Ajmal Exclusive Room Freshener entry.
