Highcon Euclid demonstrated at Antilope

Belgium’s Antilope Group has allowed Highcon and one of its Europeam distributor partners, Plantin, to showcase the potential of the Euclid digital cutting and creasing system for folding carton production.

A demonstration day has been held at Antilope’s new Packaging Centre in Lier, Belgium for members of the press from the Benelux countries.

During the day, attendees were given a live demonstration of the Highcon Euclid, including production of a package representing a theatre. This design, which was also used as a theme for invitations to the event, was specially designed by Antilope, printed on the Tullis Russell Trucard 2 substrate, a matte 350g per sq m material, and was printed on a KBA Rapida 105ZF-6+L offset press. Delivery of cutting and creasing details to the Highcon Euclid was made in a DXF format from the Esko ArtiosCAD software.

Linda Corremans, chief executive officer (CEO) of Antilope Cardboard, said:  ‘We are very excited about our new recruit, and are eagerly looking forward to customer reactions to the new capabilities we can now offer.

‘It has been six months since we first saw the Euclid at the Plantin demo centre and here it is, centre stage at Antilope. We hope everyone enjoyed the performance.’

Hans Huyghe, managing director of Plantin-Tetterode Benelux, added: ‘We have witnessed a surge of interest in the digital technology. By adopting this digitization of the last step of the packaging process, Antilope has confirmed our understanding of the changing needs of the packaging market.’

The UK’s Glossop Cartons is another early adopter of the Highcon Euclid system.

Aviv Ratzman, CEO of Highcon, said: ‘Needless to say, we are gratified to see the first commercial installation of the Highcon Euclid here in Antilope. We look forward to seeing some amazing results from Antilope’s forward-thinking packaging team together with the creative capabilities of the Highcon Euclid.’
