MM Karton joins Xeikon Aura partner network

Mayr-Melnhof Karton has joined the Xeikon Aura partner network, and will be used as part of the showcase of the digital printer’s dry toner equipment’s use in folding carton applications at Labelexpo Europe 2013.

The Xeikon Aura partner network is based upon non-exclusive relationships with industry-leading partners, especially in key areas: print media, software, equipment, and consumables and tools.

MM Karton has joined the Xeikon Aura Partner network extensive testing of its substrates.

Xeikon will be using MM Karton’s Silvawhite 275gsm material in the Package Printing feature area at Labelexpo Europe 2013, where it is to run a 3500 press to showcase digital carton printing. The Xeikon 3500 digital press in the feature area in hall 12 at Labelexpo Europe 2013 will be equipped with a digital varnish print station applying Xeikon’s Durable Clear toner, and an in-line die cutting and stripping unit built by Switzerland’s Bograma. The cartons will be printed in CMYK in one pass, along with Durable Clear to provide extra protection to the print in a single process. The web will then be sheeted, using a full rotary process with a variable repeat length to keep waste to a minimum. The sheets will then be fed into a rotary die cutting station with magnetic plates, with waste stripped and the printed cartons stacked.

Xeikon said the cooperation with MM Karton is an important step in expanding the portfolio of folding carton substrates that have been tested and certified on Xeikon 3000 Series presses.

Ten different MM Karton boards have been certified: Silvawhite, Silvaboard, Kromopak, Optimus Top, Excellent Top and MM Digicarton from its GC range, as well as Multicolor Mirabell and Topcolor from the WLC range.
