Package printing to get push at label show

The diversification of label printers into package printing will be addressed at Labelexpo Europe 2013, with the Package Printing Workshop to be a key feature of the show.

Taking place in hall 12, workshop are being organized in partnership with Xeikon and Nuova Gidue.

Package printing was first seen at Labelexpo Europe in 2011, with the Package Printing Zone, and will return in 2013 after also forming part of the feature program at Labelexpo Americas 2012.

Both Xeikon and Nuova Gidue will have presses in the feature area in 2013 showcasing package printing, with the digital production of cartons carried out on a Xeikon 3500 and flexible packaging printed on a Nuova Gidue Combat M3.

The feature area in hall 12 will also play host to the world exclusive showing of the 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA Award winners, which are to be presented at the ECMA congress taking place in Croatia the week before Labelexpo Europe 2013.

Workshop sessions will each run for 30 minutes and take place at 11:00 CET and 15:00 CEST on the first three days and at 11:00 CEST on the last day. Sample folders will be available for collection on entry to the show with job description sheets and printed samples of all the sessions' printed products available in hall 12.

Lisa Milburn, managing director of the Labelexpo Global Series, said: ‘The Package Printing Workshop sessions should be a really beneficial addition for label converters and printers looking to move into package printing.

‘By showcasing the capabilities of both a digital and conventional narrow web press, we hope to demonstrate how straightforward and uncomplicated it can be to service packaging production jobs which, like labels, require short runs, personalization and multiple variations.’
