ExxonMobil Chemical expands plant

The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical recently completed an expansion of its oriented polypropylene (OPP) film manufacturing plant in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The installation of a specialty 6.6-meter orienter line gives ExxonMobil Chemical an additional 30 million pounds of annual capacity and helps the Films Business meet growing demand for white opaque films in the food packaging, labeling and imaging markets.

‘This expansion allows us to fulfill our customers’ needs for innovative, high-quality, specialty film products,’ says Andrew Purdue, general manager, Americas Film Business, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. ‘White opaque films offer many benefits to food and beverage marketers and we look forward to delivering more of this high-value product to our customers around the world.’

White opaque films continue to grow in popularity in the flexible packaging and labeling industries. ExxonMobil Chemical’s OPPalyte and Label-Lyte white opaque films are used in the ice cream novelty, confection, snack food and beverage markets.

The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical supplies a full range of oriented polypropylene (OPP) film for flexible packaging and labeling applications. ExxonMobil has seven affiliated production plants: three in Europe (Virton, Belgium; Kerkrade (the Netherlands) and Brindisi, Italy) and four in North America (LaGrange, Georgia; Stratford, Connecticut; Shawnee, Oklahoma and Belleville, Canada). Its European head office is located in Luxembourg and its United States head office is in Macedon, New York. The company and its affiliates have sales offices to support customer needs in countries around the world, including North America and Europe as well as Africa and Asia.
