FINAT plans for the long term

FINAT aims to become the global authority for the sector and work to encourage national associations to support that development.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary at its Paris congress, the organization asked its members how they wanted the organisation to develop in the next 50 years – and taking the lead in the continued development of the industry globally was the emphatic choice.

FINAT president Jan Frederik Vink said the Board wanted the clear views of its members as it shaped the organisation to cope with the future. ‘We need a compass to choose the right direction – where do we want to be in the next 50 years? It is important that we get the right input,’ he said.

Faced with a choice of developing its activities into all forms of labeling, the packed Congress hall overwhelmingly voted to continue to ‘do what we do well’ and develop its global expertise in the service of self-adhesive manufacturers.

Members also decided that FINAT should be the driving force to help the industry cope with the growing environmental challenges that the future holds.

Helping young managers develop and supporting them as they take over the responsibility of shaping the future of the industry will be another priority. FINAT made a start in this direction at the Congress when it launched its Young Managers’ Club to help develop the company leaders of the future as present owners face the challenges of planning leadership succession.
