Arpeco and EyeC present ‘fastest’ finishing solution

At Labelexpo Americas 2008, Arpeco and EyeC jointly presented what they claim is the ‘fastest, most efficient and most secure’ finishing solution for pressure sensitive labels. The solution created by the two companies allows the full finishing operation to be combined with 100 percent inspection and re-inspection in full color at the speed of 200m/min (650ft/min).

The key to this success is the combination of Arpeco's patented shuttle retrieval system included in its new Premier-SD 20/20 with EyeC's object-oriented inspection technology included in its ProofRunner family of inspection systems which ultimately ensures that every label on the web gets inspected and content-verified against the signed-off proof before it reaches the rewind coil.

If a defect is found during the finishing process, Arpeco's shuttle retrieval technology allows the relevant portion of the web to be moved backwards without reversing the rotation of the rewinder's rewind or unwind rolls. The defective portion of the web is moved precisely to a splice-table and identified on the system’s monitor for the operator to take appropriate corrective action. Afterward, the web is advanced to the inspection position again for re-inspection before continuing onward for counting, numbering, slitting, and rewinding. With this approach all potential errors are claimed to be prevented, including possible mix-ups with a similar article during the splicing procedure.
