Chesapeake standardizes finishing with Bobst
Double Expertfold investment revamps gluing department

Chesapeake Leicester has revamped its gluing department following the installation of an Expertfold 50 and an Expertfold 110 from Bobst.
The Expertfold 50 is the first of its type installed in the world. The line is designed for small order quantities and has the flexibility for quick make-ready times.
The Expertfold 110 is suited to complex work, with a recent demonstration in Switzerland showing that the machine can run at double the speed of many standard gluing lines with a reduction in make-ready times.
The double investment by Chesapeake Leicester has allowed the site to standardize its equipment and focus its employee skills on the latest technology.
In addition, Chesapeake Nottingham has strengthened its gluing capacity through the installation of a Bobst Alpina folder gluer.
Jon Drennan, Chesapeake Leicester’s operations director, said: ‘The Expertfold 50 has allowed us to respond effectively to a continuing trend for smaller order quantities without compromising even the most demanding quality expectations.
‘The Expertfold 110 machine only started production recently but has already made a very encouraging start.
‘Over the last two years, we’ve completely transformed the Leicester site. The two new gluers complement earlier investments in modern printing presses and the latest cut and crease technology. The site also leads the way in the PantoneLive color matching system, which is now being introduced to other Chesapeake locations.’
