Comexi Group attracted in excess of 40 attendees from more than 30 companies to its first flexible packaging seminar in South America, which took place at the end of October in the Colombia capital Bogotá.

The event was organized by the Comexi Group Manel Xifra Boada Technological Center with support from the company’s representative in Colombia, Novaflex.

The attendance level surpassed Comexi’s expectations for its first flexible packaging seminar in South America, with 85 percent of attendees coming directly or indirectly from companies related to the converting industry in Colombia. Companies from many other South American countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic were also present.

The seminar aimed to focus attention on flexible packaging converting processes and the significant changes these processes have experienced over the last few years as a result of advances in technology, especially in the area of pre-press technology.

The meeting also reflected upon the positive perspectives for growth, which have led the sector to update and expand its knowledge of the different processes to establish control guidelines.

The seminar was delivered in two parts, wsith the first focused on flexo printing, and the second on lamination and slitting.

Presentations were given by Comexi technicians, as well as speakers from Siegwerk and Morchem in the area of inks and adhesives respectively.

The seminar is the first in a series of technical events that Comexi said will establish it as the meeting point for the flexible packaging sector with events every two to three years in Colombia.
