Glossop’s Packaging Superheroes up for award

Glossop Cartons has been shortlisted in the Marketing Campaign of the Year category at this year’s Derbyshire’s Best Business Awards.

Derbyshire’s Best Business Awards are run by the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Derby Telegraph and aims to recognize, reward and celebrate business excellence across the county. The results will be announced at a gala dinner to take place on September 27 at The Roundhouse in Derby.

The firm was shortlisted for the award after it impressed the judging panel with its Packaging Superheroes campaign, which was launched earlier this year to raise awareness of the company becoming the world’s first to commission the Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine.

The Packaging Superheroes theme was on show at Packaging Innovations at the NEC in Birmingham in late February, and will be seen again at the London leg of the event on October 1-2.

Glossop Carton’s investment in the Highcon Euclid was formally unveiled at February’s Packaging Innovations. Glossop Cartons’ Packaging Superheroes campaign, including real-life characters walking the aisles of the show, visualized the innovation behind the machine and showcased the company’s growing portfolio of products.

The campaign was so successful that Glossop Cartons made over 300 new business leads in two days, whilst also enjoying a number of high-profile media appearances.  Orders are now being placed for the Highcon Euclid machine following its installation at a purpose-built digital studio at the Derbyshire site.

Jacky Sidebottom (pictured, top, standing with the Glossop Cartons team at Packaging Innovations earlier this year), director of Glossop Cartons, said: ‘Having become the world’s first to commission such a machine, we knew it was important to launch the pioneering product with something that was memorable and effective. Packaging Superheroes did just that and I’m absolutely delighted that our efforts have been recognised at this year’s Derbyshire Best Awards.’
