Konica Minolta introduces Embellishment Forge

Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA has introduced Embellishment Forge, a new platform designed to simplify the creation of digital embellishment applications and expand access to specialty effects.

Developed by Konica Minolta and powered by Adobe Print Services, Embellishment Forge helps more designers participate in digital embellishment by eliminating much of the specialized knowledge traditionally required to create production-ready files. By democratizing access to embellishment as a creative and commercial tool for designers, it enables more projects to incorporate high-value print enhancements that drive differentiation, engagement and profitability.

'Digital embellishment is very profitable for print providers because it consistently delivers stronger visual impact, but too many potential applications never reach production because the process can be intimidating for non-specialists,' said Frank Mallozzi, president, Industrial and Production Print, Konica Minolta. 'Embellishment Forge makes those capabilities more accessible while helping print providers bring embellishment into the creative conversation rather than introducing it at the production stage.'

Until now, digital embellishment has largely depended on a relatively small group of specialists who understand both design and production requirements. Embellishment Forge is designed to make those capabilities accessible to a broader creative audience while helping Print Service Providers introduce embellishment earlier in the decision-making process.

Embellishment Forge begins with a standard PDF. From there, designers can explore embellishment concepts, evaluate their impact and generate files aligned to a participating PSP's production environment. By handling much of the underlying production complexity behind the scenes, the platform allows users to focus on creative decisions rather than file preparation.

For PSPs, the value extends beyond workflow efficiency. Through designer-focused architecture, providers can extend embellishment capabilities beyond their own production teams, expanding the number of people capable of creating embellishment applications while maintaining alignment with their production environment.
