Tomex installs Hontec digital embellishment system

Polish label converter Tomex has installed a Hontec digital varnish and foil embellishment system, adding digital spot varnish and digital foiling capability to its label finishing operations without the need for conventional printing plates or hot-stamping dies.

The system enables Tomex to produce high-value decorative effects including spot varnish and metallic foil finishes, targeting short runs, multiple SKUs and premium label applications where the tooling cost and setup time of conventional embellishment processes would be prohibitive.

According to Hontec, digital embellishment systems have seen growing adoption among European label converters as brand owners increasingly require premium decoration across a wider range of SKUs and shorter production runs, driven by product personalization, promotional packaging and the growth of craft and premium consumer goods segments.

The Hontec installation joins an extensive press fleet at Tomex that includes a Bobst Digital Master 340 digital-flexographic hybrid press, a 10-color Bobst Master M5 flexographic press, a Mark Andy Performance P5 8-color UV flexographic press with hot and cold foiling capability and peel-off and shrink sleeve label production and more.

Hontec said the installation further expands its presence in the European label and packaging market.
