Flexible packaging for freezing conditions

UK company, Roberts Mart, has taken a lead in the market for flexible packaging that can withstand deep freeze temperatures, maintain the integrity of the product, and enhance brand identity.  The company has been servicing this sector for as long as frozen cabinets and chilled shelves have been installed in supermarkets, and understands the needs of frozen and chilled food companies.

Flexible packaging is space saving, cost effective, lightweight and can offer environmental benefits as well as provide innovative packaging solutions to help improve product delivery and cope with the variations in temperatures when items are moved in and out of cold storage.

A recently added customer is Sealord Caistor in Market Rasen, the UK arm of global seafood processor Sealord New Zealand.  The food company chose Roberts Mart's printed flexible packaging expertise to ensure the high quality and low cost of flow-wrapping the six-portion packs of frozen Coley it supplies to a major high street supermarket.

The packaging materials used offer top quality performance in the extreme temperatures needed by Sealord, including mechanical resistance, sturdiness, and an ability to maintain integrity through a variety of filling, sealing and transportation processes.

Sealord's packaging and ingredients stock controller, Steve Clifford, said: ‘I was particularly impressed with Roberts Mart’s knowledge of our industry, the quality of the product and speed of turnaround.’

Roberts Mart offers high performance films for the frozen and chilled food sector that deliver clarity, gloss and strength, whilst minimising gauge.  It is also able to print in 10 colors.
