Parkside invests in next generation of sustainability expertise
Company creates its first trainee sustainability and quality coordinator role to support future packaging talent.

Parkside, a provider of flexible packaging, has appointed Marvyn Wachira as its first trainee sustainability and quality coordinator, a role designed to nurture the next generation of packaging talent while supporting Parkside’s long-term environmental goals.
By creating this role, Parkside is strengthening its focus on embedding sustainability into its day-to-day decision-making. Wachira will support the company’s teams by aligning packaging quality and performance with ambitious environmental targets, while engaging in research to uncover new strategies that will help further reduce the business’s environmental impact.
Wachira said: ‘I’ve always cared deeply about the environment, having studied Environmental Science at University, so this role at Parkside Flexibles felt like the perfect fit. I’m already finding plenty to get stuck in to, with several exciting initiatives in the works that have the potential to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. It’s been fantastic to join such a welcoming team, and I’m looking forward to working alongside them as we continue to drive sustainability improvements across the flexible packaging sector.’
Richard Hallas, QHSE manager at Parkside, added: ‘We’ve always prided ourselves on our commitment to staying ahead on sustainability, whether that's creating more sustainable flexible packaging formats or guiding our customers through the latest environmental regulations. Investing in emerging talent like Marvyn ensures that we not only strengthen our current sustainability expertise, but also build the skills and knowledge needed to meet future challenges. This investment ensures sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do.’
