Parkside secures Zero Waste to Landfill certification
Parkside earned the latest sustainability milestone after an extensive audit in September 2026.
Flexible packaging expert Parkside has achieved a significant milestone in its sustainability journey, securing the prestigious Zero Waste to Landfill certification.
Parkside earned the award after an extensive audit in September 2026 that reviewed all of its activities through data collection, on-site observations, and interviews with senior quality and safety personnel. After the completion of this process, auditors confirmed that Parkside sends zero waste to landfill, including production, packaging, and hazardous waste.
In total, all 883.31 tons of waste generated were diverted from landfill throughout the year so far, and nothing was incinerated without energy recovery. 26 percent was recycled, while the remaining 74 percent was sent for energy recovery.
Richard Hallas, QHSE manager at Parkside, was delighted at the result, but reiterated the company did not see this as the end of its sustainability journey. ‘This is an achievement years in the making,’ he said. ‘Everyone across the business, including suppliers and customers, has played their part in ensuring we have the processes and infrastructure in place to eliminate waste sent to landfill.
‘We’re proud of our latest milestone, but we also know there’s still more to do. Our commitment to continuous improvement still drives us, as we look to further improve recycling rates across all operational areas. We’re continuing to work closely with our waste contracting partners to ensure we can achieve that goal.’
Parkside holds ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), and ISO 9001 (quality management) certification, ensuring its operations meet the highest sustainability and safety standards. The company tracks waste tonnage and landfill waste monthly, and aims to reinforce its environmental leadership by reducing its carbon emissions by 5 percent in 2026.
As part of its waste reduction strategy efforts, the company continually invests in employee training, processes, and technology to ensure right-first-time manufacturing. To support this, it has partnered with waste management expert Papilo to undergo quarterly waste management visits.
