Flint Group invests in India

Flint Group is building a new factory near Baroda, India to produce inks for the packaging and narrow web sector as part of its ongoing program to improve service to converters.
The Group has had a presence in India since 2001, but the company’s roots go back further. ‘Thanks to long-term partnerships with our customers, we have enjoyed decades of innovation and leading product developments,’ commented George Lyle, VP Packaging and Narrow Web Asia. ‘Our extensive product range is well known worldwide, and investing into a new site in India was the next logical step for continued growth.’
India’s packaging industry is growing fast and Flint is keen to cater for customers in this market. ‘We already have an ISO 9001-2000 certified mother plant for packaging inks in Bangalore, and blending units in Baroda, Noida and Savli, supported by depots at Pondicherry, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai,’ explained Upal Roy, general manager Flint Group India. He added: ‘We shall soon be in a position to support the market even better with our new plant in Savli, near Baroda.’ The plant, which is still under construction, is being built to European standards for processes and safety. It will have separate areas for manufacturing water-based, toluene based, and toluene-free solvent-based inks.
Other recent investments by Flint Group include the expansion of its packaging inks manufacturing operation in Poland, and the acquisition of Torda, both part of its commitment to growth in the packaging and narrow web sectors.
