Folding carton boosts Gallus results

Gallus saw turnover increase by around €19 million during 2011, citing strong growth in its folding carton business.

Turnover in 2011 was CHF201 million (€167 million) in 2011, up from CHF178 million (€148 million).

Gallus said this was in part due to a ‘satisfactory level of business from orders received in 2010 and the first installations of the Gallus ICS 670’, which led to a ‘significant expansion of business in the folding carton business unit’.

The Gallus ICS 670 is an inline printing press concept that permits various printing and finishing processes and allows the manufacture of blanks from the cardboard roll in a single pass. This ensures maximum efficiency and economy for the manufacture of highly embellished folding cartons (see PPW issue 1 2012, pp21-23).

Gallus will exhibit the Gallus ICS 670 alongside important feature improvements and expansion possibilities at Drupa 2012 (see detailed exhibitor preview in PPW issue #2 2012).

The company’s label business also reported growth in 2011 over 2010, despite declining demand and the ongoing uncertain economic situation.
