Gidue carries out digital flexo training in South Africa

Nuova Gidue has hosted a training program with its distributor in South Africa to extend understanding and adoption of its “digital flexo” concept.

The digital flexo concept was introduced in 2005, when Nuova Gidue industrialized the Print Tutor model, applied to a mid web press installed in Cape Town and on Xpannd offset multi-process machines in Italy, and then in March 2010 the technology was introduced on the company’s narrow web flexo line.

At Labelexpo Europe 2011, Nuova Gidue introduced flexographic presses with fully automated print pressure and lateral and cross register, allowing the press to automatically control the printing process, substituting the operators hands and eyes with HD digital cameras (Print Tutor). The camera on each printing unit “reads” and manages the print pressure, the color density and the image register, adjusting them using servos.

Ipex is a historical Gidue distributor that has installed several machines in the territory.

Its organization is divided into three main branches; Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. In addition to the commercial support, Ipex offers a service point that, with the cooperation of his qualified mechanics and electricians, provides assistance and spare parts.

From April 15 to 18, Cristina Toffolo, sales director of Nuova Gidue, organized a continuing education course in South Africa to introduce the real concept of what digital flexo is.

The whole commercial team of Ipex gathered at the Johannesburg location for the training program.

In July, the technical team will be sent to Italy to receive vocational education concerning the management of the Print Tutor and Print Tutor Plus that controls the register and the printing pressure.

Bruce Allen, Ipex managing director, said: ‘The South African market is ready to move forward into true digital flexo technology.

‘The Ipex sales team is excited and eager to demonstrate to potential customers the advanced technology offered by Nuova Gidue and the real and calculable benefits that this technology has to offer.’
